My Secret
I have a secret! 👀 For the past 2 years I’ve been working full time while also managing my parents retail and online jewelry store. Ok…ok…so it’s not really a secret, but maybe to my past employers it is haha.
I recently dug up some photos of my dad at the jewelry store during a Christmas event they did in 1995.

circa 1995
Like so many of us juggling full time jobs with side projects and businesses, it can be tough to take a moment to breathe, or even celebrate little wins. I bring this up because I recently did a panel interview for a new job.
Spoiler alert…I didn’t get the job. But, did get a piece of feedback that made me rethink the way I approach my work now.

It’s funny because as a culture, we Latinos are joyful and celebrate any chance we get for something small. But when it comes in a professional setting, it feels like we are navigating a new world (at least for first-gen) where we are unsure if we should shrink, let others get the praise, or in my case use the word, “we.”
We created this. We brought in this amount of $ revenue… ➡️ the reality is there is no “we.” In my case I brought in that extra revenue. I created that campaign. I brought that idea to the team.
It can be tough to celebrate ourselves and our accomplishments. I guess this is a reminder for myself and hopefully all of us, to celebrate ourselves in a world that makes us feel like we shouldn’t be celebrated.
Industry Trends in Wellness
From WHOOP, to Oura rings, to cold plunges, the wellness industry is bigger and more sophisticated than ever. The global wellness industry is projected to grow to 7.8% 📈every year in the next 4 years!
That means more brands, more products, and more consumers spending on preventive health.
But…there is an issue. Despite all this tech and products, our physical well-being isn’t actually improving according to data. The U.S. life expectancy is stagnant (~78), and many report in the study reported having a low purpose, low connection, and no joy.
Still, consumers are prioritizing prevention-focused services and products. And they’re willing to spend on it, “Americans collectively budget $1.1T for wellness, with 78% saying they’ll continue spending the same or more…” 💰
I bring this up because it’s an opportunity to build in this market. Honestly, there is no better time to get in on the wellness trend and get into consumer’s mindset on their health. 🤓 The next wave of wellness products and services needs to ground itself in outcome-oriented and trustworthy systems to truly change lives.

5 Shopify Apps to Use
I thought I’d highlight 5 Shopify apps to use no matter what stage of the business you’re at. If you’re on Shopify, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed with all the apps available to help run your site.
The truth is you can start doing really well with some of Shopify’s own native apps, and a few others so you don’t spend too much on your operations. 💻
Shopify Email - You don’t need a super expensive email app starting out. Shopify offers a really simple and good one that easily integrates with all of your products, and helps manage all of your email contacts.
Lucky Orange - Heatmaps can tell you exactly what your site visitors are clicking on and Lucky Orange is a super popular app that offers an inexpensive way to see what type of content resonates with your customers.
Recharge Subscriptions - Recharge is probably the king of subscription apps. For good reason, they have a really good design and make it simple to manage subscriptions on your website.
Shopify Flow - This one is a must to help create segments and automate certain marketing flows that trigger if your customer signs up for a newsletter or discount code.
Instafeed - Every good ecommerce site showcases your beautiful instagram feed! 🔥 This one is free (forever).
This Saturday I will bring to you an awesome interview with the founders of Bonnee, a clothing swap app that offers a different way to shop vintage. 🛒
